All about the Tamang Heritage Trek.

The Tamang Heritage trek is an exciting trekking trip taking you towards the Himalayas that offer you a peek into the lives of the life of the Tamang people who are the dwellers of the Langtang region. The culture and heritage of these people is what offered in the whole trip. The 14-day trip begins in Kathmandu with visits to UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Next, you drive to Syabrubesi and begin trekking into the mountainous region. Throughout our journey you will be rewarded with outstanding views of the Himalayas and get acquainted with the culture and traditions of the Tamang people who live in close vicinity to the mighty Langtang. The trek covers almost all of the major trekking routes in the Langtanng region passing through some of the regions like Syabrubesi, Gatlang enjoying the views of some of the major peaks like Ganesh Himal, Shishapangma, Langtang Lirung and much more.

In March and April you can also see some Rhododendron forests that have many different species of trees, birds and butterflies while trekking you can discover the rough history of the Tibetan ancestors. The valley offers pine forest, swift mountain streams, rugged rock and snow- capped peaks, grassy downs and meadows scattered with daisies and wild primula as real nomad sceneries.

This trekking trail; offers some of the best views of the wildlife along with the snow capped views of the mountains and the abundant wildlife bears and leopards and much more. You will also get to discover the routes that give you the insights of the Tibetan culture and their ancestry who seem to have long migrated from Tibet before settling in these Himalayas.

  1. 01 Arrive in Kathmandu (1,350 M / 4,428Ft),

    Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, our Fishtail representative and driver will meet you at the Tribhuban International Airport and escort you to your designated hotel. The representative will help you to check into your hotel. In the hotel, you will be briefed about your daily activities during the trek. Overnight stay at hotel.

  2. 02 Drive to Syabrubesi (1,550M/ 5,100Ft), 8-9 hrs

    The trekking journey begins as you will drive from Kathmandu towards Syabrubesi. You will also get to see some of the views of the mountains; the first part of the trek takes you towards a winding road. You will then descend to a small village of Syabrubesi. Overnight at teahouse.

  3. 03 Trek to Gatlang (2,200M/ 7,217Ft), 5-6 hrs

    The trek actually begins on this day as you begin walking across the Goljung village enjoying views of the mountains. You will spend the overnight at Gatlang which is a small village on the hillside. Overnight at teahouse.

  4. 04 Trek to Tatopani (2,607M/ 8550Ft), 6-7 hrs

    Start with a descent to Thangbuche, Getting in some of the magnificient views of the mountain ranges. Pass the Chilime hydropower dam and climb until you reach Tatopani which is the hot spring. Overnight at teahouse.

  5. 05 Trek to Thuman (2,400M/ 7,874 Ft) via Brimdang & Nagthali, 6-7 hrs

    You will trek to Thuman today passing Brimdang and Nagthali. Getting through some forests, you will reach to Brimdang from where a few hours walk and ascent leads to Nagthali. Then move downwards to the Tamang village of Thuman to spend an overnight. Overnight at teahouse.

  6. 06 Trek to Briddim (2,345M/ 7,693Ft), 5-6 hrs

    From Thuman, you trek to Briddim through Lingling. Briddim is the Tibetan Buddhist village located on the lap of Langtang Himal. Overnight at teahouse.

  7. 07 Trek to Lama Hotel (2,470M/ 8,102FT), 5-6 hrs

    You are going to trek to Lama Hotel today, descending to Ghopche Khola passing through Rimche and finally a climb that takes you to Lama Hotel which is located on the banks of the Langtang River. Overnight at teahouse.

  8. 08 Trek to Langtang Village (3,430M/ 11,253Ft), 6-7 hrs

    You will take a trip to Langtang village on the day, through the trail alongside the dense forests and a steady climb through the valley. Overnight at teahouse.

  9. 09 Trek to Kyanjin Gompa (3,870M/ 12,697Ft), 4-5 hrs

    The destination for the day is Kyanjin Gompa. You will get there walking though yak pastures and the largest mani wall, eventually cross the wooden bridges finally making it to Kyanjin Gompa. Overnight at teahouse.

  10. 10 Trek back to Lama Hotel (2,380M/ 7,830Ft), 4-5 hrs

    A downhill walk will take you through forests and a beautiful mountain river passing few settlements of Tamang people and finally making it back to Lama Hotel. Overnight at teahouse.

  11. 11 Trek to Syabrubesi (1,550M/ 5,100Ft), 5-6 hrs

    This marks the last day of this trekking journey when you head back to Syabrubesi which is an easy trek. Overnight at teahouse.

  12. 12 Drive to Kathmandu (1,350M/ 4,428Ft), 4-5 hrs

    You are going to travel along a rutted gravel path up to Lami Danda and then follow the road up to Kathmandu which will take up four hours. Overnight at hotel.

  13. 13 Final departure

    After having breakfast at hotel, we process for farewell bid. Then our company representative will drop you at Airport for your onward journey.

Hotels, Tea Houses/ Lodges

There are good hotels at Kathmandu with good services but trekking accommodation are normal teahouse where meals and accommodation are provided.
